Quarterback tosses 122 yards,runs for 97 on 16 tries

New starting quarterback Josh McAbee threw a pair of touchdown passes to lift West Morgan High to a 20-6 road win over Munford on Friday night.
McAbee completed 13 of 19 passes for 122 yards and led his team in rushing with 97 yards on 16 carries. He helped the Rebels' offense generate 306 yards.
The game marked the season opener for both schools, and the Class 2A Rebels picked up a win over a team that advanced to the second round of last year's 3A state playoffs.
After a scoreless first quarter, West Morgan broke the ice with McAbee's 6-yard touchdown pass to Michael Clem. Jared Spooner kicked the extra point for a 7-0 lead, and West Morgan never trailed.
Munford scored before halftime to cut the lead to 7-6, but West Morgan scored one touchdown each in the third and fourth quarters.
In the third period, McAbee threw a 21-yard scoring pass to Micah Randolph. In the fourth, Justin Phillips rushed 1 yard for a touchdown.
Also for West Morgan, Marquis Ranceful rushed 11 times for 56 yards.
